I'm certain it's not a ground loop, everything is plugged into the same outlet, and it's not the same noise a ground loop would make. Some computer designs are such that they put noise down the USB bus and, no matter what you do, it's bad enough that there will be noise. I suspect that will really help a ton. To me this lead me to believe it is grounded to the case but maybe this is different between pc's. Unbelievable, every audio jack on the PC is just as good even though the PC doesn't have one of these...
